9 people were killed and 14 others seriously injured as Sudanese army launched new airstrikes in the early hours of Monday, on the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, which was the second of its kind within hours.

The warplanes intensified their air strikes on the city of El Fasher, trying to harm the hard power of the Rapid Support Forces, but there are reports that some of the strikes hit civilian targets.

A medical source at Al-Fasher Southern Hospital told Darfur 24 that the air strikes killed 9 people and injured 14 others.

Eyewitnesses told to Darfur 24 that the warplanes had launched airstrikes on Monday night destroying 5 houses in Al-Wefaq neighbourhood.

A relative of the decreased Muhammad Fadl, informed Darfur 24 that the aircraft targeted the Al-Wefaq neighborhood, east of Al-Fasher adjacent to the city’s power station and is not under the control of Rapid Support, and fired explosive barrels, leading to the death of two entire families, most of them women and children, and wounding 7 others on the spot.

He said that his father’s brother lost his two wives and children, while the fire consuming homes made the task of rescuing the victims difficult.

An Antonov plane belonging to the Sudanese army flew Monday night in the airspace of the city of El Fasher for more than half an hour, during which it launched more than 5 explosive barrels targeting the Al-Wefaq neighborhoods and factories.

The Rapid Support Forces fired heavy anti-aircraft guns, with strong earthquakes caused by aircraft shells, and a huge fire was seen towards Al-Wefaq neighborhood.

Last night, residents of Al-Wefaq neighborhood evacuated their homes and fled to the southern neighborhoods and shelter centers inside the city of El-Fasher for fear of being exposed to aerial bombardment again.

Yesterday, Sunday, the warplanes targeted eastern El Fasher without causing any loss of life or property or hitting clear targets of the Rapid Support Forces, according to “Darfur 24” sources.

The raid that was launched at night on the city of El Fasher was the sixth this March, the ninth this year, and the 12th since the beginning of the fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in April last year.
